TIBERON MINERALS LTD.
ÝVietnam is located in a part of the world that is underexplored with regards to natural and mineral resources. Due to internal and international strife, this region has not been systenatically explored for the past 50 years. North and South Vietnam reunited in 1975. In the mid-1980's, Vietnam implemented "Doi Moi" or reform, which was an ideological shift towards an "open-door" policy. In 1996, the Vietnamese government passed a comprehensive new mineral policy designed to attract foreign investment. By 1996, Tiberon was already aware of the mineral potential of Vietnam and was actively pursuing opportunities. In 1997, Tiberon acquired the Nui Phao license in northern Vietnam. The property is located within the Vietnamese portion of the South China Plate. This plate hosts China's DaChang and Gejiu,Ý two of the world,s largest tin-polymetallic deposits, producing over 20 billion US in metallic resources. Since acquiring Nui Phao, Tiberon has been active on the property with general prospecting, chip sampling, trenching, mapping, airborne and ground geophysics.
The Nui Phao project is a joint venture between Tiberon Minerals Ltd. (70%) and two private Vietnamese companies (30%) that will be carried to feasibility. The license is for a 32.3 km2 property 80 km north of Hanoi. A rail line and a high voltage power transmission line run directly through the Nui Phao property. In the 980's and the early 1990's, the Vietnam Geological Survey completed a trenching and drilling program at Nui Phao which defined a probable 90 million tonne polymetallic massive sulphide resource rich in copper, gold, tungsten, bismuth and fluorite. A gossan-oxide cap of the polymetallic massive sulphide resource has been extensively sampled by Tiberon. Average assay results in the gossan are; copper- 0.30 %, gold - 0.82 g/t, tungsten trioxide (WO3) - 0.52 % and bismuth - 0.38 %. These results further indicate the potential for a very large tonnage copper-gold-tungsten-bismuth resource in the underlying massive sulphides. Three kilometres north of the gossan, epithermal stockwork quartz veins discovered during the 1999 airborne EM survey have since been proven to be anomalous in gold and silver. Dr. Tuenis Kwak ( a recognized expert in polymetallic large tonnage skarn deposits worldwide) was appointed to Tiberon'sÝ board of directors in May 2000. Dr. Kwak is supervising the mapping and exploration of the Nui Phao project. Dr. Kwak is also investigating other mineral projects in Vietnam with world-class potential for Tiberon.
Tiberon has an active ongoing program of mapping and sampling integrated with ground based Induced Polarization and Magnetic surveying that is defining targets for a drilling program slated to begin in late August of 2000. With systematic mapping and drilling Tiberon has the potential to define a world-class polymettallic resource a Nui Phao. The ultimate goal is to attract a major international mining company for a partnership.
